Dr Sohinder Bir is a renowned Punjabi poet. He obtained a Masters degree from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and then he did M.Phill & Ph.D. on the Poetry of Shiv Kumar: Study in Genre and Theme from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar in 1983. He then joined D A V College, Chandigarh as a lecturer and then in 1990 he joined Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. He started writing poetry in mid-seventies. Among his works of poetry are Vedna da shilalekh , "Taara Taara Athroo" , "Harh Sial" , "Rukh Dukh te Manukh" , "Sonh Sunehri Daliyan" & "Ik Mahak Katora".He also written the biography of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Shaheed Udham Singh.
