I'm Sophia - I've been reading and using en.wiki for almost 20 years, and am looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and contributing in a more meaningful and lasting sense from 2026 onwards!

I am going to try not to get too bogged down in userboxen etc early on, as I live with OCD and can get verrrrry caught up in meaningless details. Contributing to the 'pedia is key to start with, but I'll list some basic info here for curious editors I may bump into - please feel free to ask me any questions on my Talk page (or provide me with sage advice).

I am a female-bodied ENBY (any pronouns are fine) with a background in philosophy and library science. I speak English at a native level and have been a freelance writer and editor for ~20 years. I understand German at about a B1 level, certainly not well enough to contribute to the de.wiki (but I hope to someday).

I live in the United States, with a timezone of UTC-8 in the winter and UTC-7 in the summer. I really hope my country demolishes Daylight Savings Time because I find it irrational and slightly upsetting to change my darn timezone twice yearly.

I am a long-time Linux geek and free/libre/open source and Creative Commons activist. I would like to think my experience as a tech educator has been enhanced by the fact that, well, I'm a really goofy and clumsy user of advanced technologies myself. This provides me with infinite sympathy for anyone experiencing tech support issues- the struggle is real, y'all, even for people who are deeply embedded in using new technologies every day.
