speakeazie (born August 10th, 1997) is an American Alternative Pop singer-songwriter based in the Twin Cities of Minnesota.
Early Life
editspeakeazie, born Abbey Elizabeth Smith, was raised in Fort Myers, FL where her original interest in performing music began at a young age. A classically trained flutist and vocal performer, her early days as a musician revolved around classical band ensembles and choir. She relocated to the Twin Cities in July of 2018 where she currently resides.
Career
editOriginally an indie horror game developer, producer, and business development manager, speakeazie began writing music at the tail-end of 2021, soon bringing in her Co-Producer Viktor Kraus, she released her first experiemntal demo album 'Prohibition Hippie' in early January of 2022. Pulling in narrowed sounds from Dream pop, Synth-pop, and Dark wave, her signature hazy vocals broke through in the synth-heavy, soul-touching EP, 'Bootlegger Blood' in May of 2022 featuring singles "I'm a Wreck, Not a Queen" and "I'm Crushed in His Gaze".
After releasing the single "Ashtray Tears" in October of 2022, she shifted focus to the emotional alternative experience Forsaken Melodies"Forsaken Melodies" in October of 2023 that featured her entergitc singles "Love Me Wild, Love Me Crazy" and "Never Hurt You Like You Hurt Me".
