“isocialation”: I came up with this phrase by combining the words “isolation” and “social.” I searched several mainstream online resources to see if it existed and didn't see it.
My intended meaning for the term is something like "an internal sense of isolation as a result of engaging in an activity that ostensibly is intended to create a sense of social connection with others."
A prominent example of isocialation is the frequent (and oxymoronic) experience of “social media use” (SMU) to counteract “perceived social isolation” (PSI). This is discussed in the study “Social Media Use and Perceived Social Isolation Among Young Adults in the U.S.”, published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine. http://www.ajpmonline.org/article/S0749-3797(17)30016-8/fulltext
