Ural Locomotives 2ES7

The 2ES7 is a twin section electric freight locomotive for 25kv AC railways in russia and other CIS countries. The locomotive forms part of a family of modern locomotives from Ural Locomotives which is a partnership between Sinara and Siemens.

History

edit

The 2ES7 is an AC variant of the 2ES10 for DC electrification. Development started in 2012 and the prototype was presented in 2013. A Compliance Certificate for the type was granted in 2014 allowing it to be used on the mainline.

Description

edit

The locomotive shares the platform of the 2ES10 and therefore the overall shape and form of the locomotive is similar. Both designs have a more angular appearance than contemporary machines from other manufacturers. The external appearance of the cab and headlight design differ considerably from the 2ES10.
