V. Sriram is a graduate in English Language and Literature and post-graduate in Library and Information Science. He also has UGC-NET in Library and Information Science.
From 1997 he worked in School Libraries for 2 years. In 1999, he joined Institute of Human Resources Development (IHRD), Kerala and worked in Libraries of Engineering College established by IHRD. From 2004 to 2008 he was with British Library, Thiruvananthapuram as Assistant Librarian responsible for Customer Services and ICT systems. And the subsequent two years he worked with LibSys Limited as Technical Service Executive responsible for Customer Support in South India, and Sri Lanka, also providing Customer Training, and providing domain expertise for software developers. At present he is the Chief Librarian of K. N. Raj Library, Centre for Development Studies, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
From the first institution where he worked onwards, he has tried to implement library automation and modernization and start customer-centric services. Apart from routine Library/Information Management, he is experienced in managing IT Operations, Communications, Customer Relations, and Training. Sriram was the Library Consultant for FISAT, Angamaly (in 2002) and Trinity College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram (2010) and established those libraries in those institutions.
Currently, he is a Member of the Board of Studies of Department of Library and Information Science, Rajagiri College of Social Sciences (Autonomous), Kochi, he is also a member of Expert Committee on Modernization of Kerala University Library, Thiruvananthapuram, and Member, Technical Committee on Library Software of Kerala State Library Council, Thiruvananthapuram. Earlier he served as a Member of Technical Committee on Automation of State Institute of Languages Library, Thiruvananthapuram during 2012 – 13, Member of the Expert Committee to establish the Library of Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University during 2012-14.
Sriram has authored journal articles, co-authored four national seminar papers and one international seminar paper. He has served as resource person in 16 Workshops and Refresher Courses.
