Article Evaluation

edit

This is a wiki evaluation of Buddhist studies and my observations as I read the page.

The article is lengthy from the beginning. The use of paragraphs within the first sentence creates confusion. There is a recent citation needed in the middle of the first paragraph. The article seems rather biased. It is a western way of looking at Buddhist studies. It is all american statics and studies. There are no statics from other countries.

The majority of the sources used were published before 2000 and only one source was published after 2000 and that was in 2003. This article could defiantly use some recent sources. I think there should be more examples of universities that offer Buddhist studies. As well as, famous historians that have participated in these studies. There is not enough examples within the article and far too many quotations. The use of long block quotations is distracting towards the overall message of the article. There is not a lot of information on the topic either. It is not a very informative article.

The two source links did work. However, one was just a link to purchase the book and the other was an online article that was informative but not credible. Within the talk page, others have described their edits. Some added more citations others tried to edit how wordy the article is. Within the talk page the article is rated start-class.

Wiki Draft on Art history

edit

Art history is the history of different groups of people and their culture represented throughout their artwork. Art historians compare different time periods in art history. Such as a comparison to Medieval Art to Renaissance Art. This history of cultures is shown in their art work in different forms. Art can be shown by attire, architecture, religion, sports. Or more visual pieces of art such as paintings, drawings, sculptures.[1]

Marcel Duchamp and Dada Movement jump started the Anti-art style. Various artist did not want to create artwork that everyone was conforming to at the time. These two movements helped other artist to create pieces that were not viewed as traditional art. Some examples of styles that branched off the anti-art movement would be Neo-Dadaism, Surrealism, and Constructivism. These styles and artist did not want to surrender to traditional ways of art. This way of thinking provoked political movements such as the Russian Revolution and the communist ideals.[2]

Artist Isaak Brodsky work of art 'Shock-worker from Dneprstroi' in 1932 shows his political involvement within art. This piece of art can be analysed to show the internal troubles Soviet Russia was experiencing at the time. [3]
