Danae Papamattheou-Matschke (or: Papamatthaiou-Matschke (GR), Papamatthäou-Matschke (DE), * 1988 in Athens) is a greek-german Violinist living in Hamburg and Thessaloniki.
Artistic activity
editDanae Papamattheou-Matschke made her concert debut at the age of 11 at Greek music festivals and has since performed in Germany, the USA, China, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, Estonia, Finland, Sweden and Cyprus. As a soloist, she has worked with a large number of symphony orchestras, such as the state orchestras of Thessaloniki and Athens, the symphony orchestra of the Greek radio, the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra Leipzig and the Thuringia Philharmonic Gotha-Eisenach.
As a soloist she is regularly present at international music festivals such as the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, the International Mendelssohn Festival Hamburg, the Samos Young Artists Festival and the Molyvos International Music Festival and appeared in large Music centers, among others the Gewandhaus Leipzig, the Elbphilharmonieand Laeiszhalle Hamburg, the Beijing National Center for the Performing Arts and the concert palaces of Athens and Thessaloniki.
In addition, she completed international master classes with Igor Ozim, Ana Chumachenko, Zakhar Bron, Donald Weilerstein, Vanya Milanova, Boris Garlitsky, [[Tanja Becker-Bender] ], Christiane Hutcap and the Szymanowski Quartet.
Training
editDanae Papamattheou-Matschke received her first violin lessons at an early age in her hometown. Studies followed at the Musikgymnasium Schloss Belvedere in Weimar with Jost Witter, at the University Mozarteum in Salzburg with Igor Ozim and at the University of Music and Theater Hamburg with Tanja Becker -Bender. Today she is a doctoral candidate at the Macedonian University of Thessaloniki and teaches at the University of Music and Theater Hamburg.
Prices
editDanae Papamattheou-Matschke has won numerous national and international competitions. She celebrated successes at the Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition (Italy), the "International Violin Competition Henri Marteau" (Germany), Jugend musiziert (Germany), as well as the international competition for young soloists “Ersi Saratsi” and the “Panhellenic Violin Competition” (Greece). She also won special prizes for the best interpretation of a virtuoso work at the "International Violin Competition Henri Marteau" (Germany) and for the best interpretation of a contemporary work at the International "Szymon Goldberg Award" (Germany).
Scholarships
editDanae Papamattheou-Matschke has been repeatedly honored for her outstanding achievements with scholarships from international non-profit organizations. She was a scholarship holder of the Verein der Musikfreunde Athens, the Onassis Foundation , the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, the Foundation Maritim Hermann and Milena Ebel and the Berenberg Bank Foundation.
