Raffaele Chiulli
editRaffaele Chiulli (Rome, 22 January 1957) is an Italian business executive, founder and president of SAFE. He also holds key roles within the world sport governing bodies, above all he is serving as the president of UIM (Union International Motonautique)[1][2], President of ARISF (Association of IOC Recognized Sport Federations) [3][4] and President of GAISF(Global Association of International Sport Federations).
Education
editGraduated in Sciences with honours at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" . He also successfully completed several postgraduate programs at Duke University (USA), INSEAD (France) and IMD (Switzerland)[5][6].
Life
editRaffaele Chiulli has a track record of international general management in enterprises and sport organizations, strategic planning, business development and economic results.
From 1981 to 1982 he worked as Head of Operations for the Salcost Consortium. Until 1989 he held a number of managerial positions at Agip including Project Manager and International New Ventures, a company owned by ENI, both in Italy and abroad.
In 1988, he founded SAFE (Sostenibilità Ambientale Fonti Energetiche), an independent organization that , designing and providing services in the field of Energy & Environmental Management. SAFE operates as a qualified partner generating value through initiatives aimed at knowledge sharing and competences development.[7][8][9]
In 1989 he relocated to Lasmo International, a leading British Oil & Gas exploration and production company, until 1998; during this time, he held several executive positions, above all he was assigned to the roles of Business Development Director and Board Member.
In 1999 he joined Holcim, one of the world leading company supplier of cement, aggregates, ready-mix concrete, asphalt and related services where he became Energy Director and Member of the Management Committee - Central Europe, besides covering several managerial roles until 2013[10]. From 2006 to 2013 he was appointed Vice President and Director Energy, Environment and Renewables at AIGET(Italian energy traders association)[11] and later on, in 2009 ‘til 2014, he was appointed Member of the Executive Committee of Elettricità Futura (Assoelettrica– the Italian association of power producers).
Since 2007, he is President of the International Powerboating Federation (UIM), the world governing body for all powerboating activities, fully recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), with more than 60 affiliated National Authorities [12][13][14].
Since 2013, he was appointed President of ARISF (Association of IOC Recognised International Sport Federations), the world authority regrouping all 38 International Olimpyc Commitee Recognised International Sport Federations[15].
Since 2014, he is member of the International Olympic Committee Sport and Active Society Commission (former Sport for All Commission).[16]
Since 2019, he became President of GAISF – Global Association of International Sport Federations (formally known as SportAccord), the umbrella organisation for all Olympic and non-Olympic international sports federations as well as organisers of multi-sports games and sport-related international associations. GAISF is the international sport organisation with 92 full members (international sports federations governing specific sports worldwide) and 17 associate members.
Awards
edit- In 2010, Raffaele Chiulli was honoured with the Knight of Merit of Italian Republic, by the President of the Republic.
- In 2014 he was awarded by HSH Prince Albert of Monaco the Vermillion Medal for Physical Education and Sports, the highest sport honor in Montecarlo.
- In 2015, Raffaele Chiulli was awarded the Gold Star of Sport Merit by the President of the Italian Olympic Committee.
- In 2015, he was honoured with the Julius Caesar Award by the City of Rome [17][18][19].
- In 2017, he was honoured with the Diploma for Development and Promotion of Sport, by the President of International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach[20].
