History

edit

Stainless Structurals was co-founded in 2005 by Paul Remsen and Mark Remsen, and its headquarters were established in their current location in Jacksonville, Florida. Initially, the company marketed and inventoried stainless steel structural shapes produced by several international mills. From its inception, Stainless Structurals aimed to develop a market for its specialized prodcuts and looked to broaden its capabilities through technological advances. In 200? the company entered into a relationship with Montanstahl AG and Innostahl GmbH to manufacture and distribute laser-fused stainless steel sections, the first and only of their kind currently available in the world. In October of 2010, Stainless Structurals Works was founded, providing a location for the domestic production of laser-fused stainless steel sections. Stainless Structurals continues to support master distributors, service centers and qualified end users with their products in inventory, and it is the sole distributor of laser-fused stainless steel sections in the Western Hemisphere.

Studies and Specifications

edit

In January of 2007, the Georgia Institute of Technology School of Civil and Environmental Engineering conducted a Structural Engineering, Mechanics and Materials Report[4] on Stainless Structurals's laser-fused and hot-rolled sections. The results of this report were instrumental in Stainless Structurals securing a specification from the American Society for Testing and Materials for its laser-fused products. The ASTM a1069 / a1069M-11 specification[5] covers laser-fused stainless steel bars, plates, and shapes of structural quality for use in bolted or welded structural applications.
