Klara Liden(born 1979, Stockholm, Sweden) is a contemporary artist. She lives and works in Berlin. She is known for her installations and videos that respond to specific architectural environments.[1] “Liden proposes architecture of piracy and détournement, a deviation of existing materials and spaces from their normal functions and uses. Rebuilding by unbuilding, the artist prefers the constraint of what is already at hand, re-making everyday space on the spot. Her material interventions –frequently accompanied by performative actions – are also a means of de-programming everyday behavior and experience.”[2] “The artist makes videos that challenge accepted codes of behavior. Brimming with physical intensity and ferocity, Liden performs illicit acts for the camera, from the methodical destruction of a bicycle to an eccentric dance on a crowded Stockholm commuter train.”[3]

Klara Liden attended School of Architecture, Royal School of Technology, Stockholm (2000-2004), Universität der Kunst, Berlin (2003), University College of Arts Crafts and Design, Konstfack,Stockholm (2004-2007).[4]

She has exhibited her work and performed extensively worldwide since 2003. She had her first solo show at Reena Spaulings Fine Art, New York. In 2009 Klara Liden created Project 89 for MoMA’s Elaine Dannheisser Projects Series.
