My focus
editI have been working on the articles for a few locations in north and west Cumbria, particularly in the parish of Holme St. Cuthbert. One article, Salta, successfully passed its "Good Article" review in December of 2014. I am very proud of the article and the work of everyone involved in getting it "up to standard". Most articles relating to the parish received a short description in July 2019 per new policy.
Created articles and improvement targets

Internal links
editI also want to improve links to articles about the region across Wikipedia, so if I see a place where there could be a link to an article or articles about west Cumbria or the parish of Holme St Cuthbert, I will try to find a way to put one in. This is done partly to improve access and partly to avoid the "walled garden" phenomenon, where we might have a nice series of interlinked articles about the parish, but with little or nothing linking them to the rest of the encyclopaedia.
If you happen to create articles about places, attractions, people, or anything else of interest within Holme St Cuthbert or west Cumbria in general, I encourage you to try to link back to existing content about the region.
Representation of Cumbria on Wikipedia is greatly improved from where it was a few years ago, but there's still a lot to do to improve these articles and shine a spotlight on this wonderful region.
Images
editOne difficulty that I've noticed lately is finding good quality images for some articles, particularly smaller settlements in Cumbria. Obviously, smaller settlements are less likely to have a large number of photographs, and in a way it's lucky that there were even images available on the Commons to use. However, I am less than satisfied with the images for Newtown, Pelutho, Goodyhills, and some other articles, and when I have the opportunity, I will take some pictures of these places with a view to using them on the articles. For readers with no prior knowledge of the place in question, an image is particularly important and it's important that the images used are of the highest possible quality. For now, any image is better than none so I'll leave them in place, but I consider them "placeholders" until we can get better photos.
Template
editI have created a template that I ultimately intend to use for the parish, but as some of the articles are not yet written (or not of suitable depth) I have chosen not to use it for the time being. However, the template is here on my user page, and if nothing else, it provides access to all of the current parish-related articles. It is also an indication of where I would like to go with articles about the area. It's not necessarily complete, and may be amended, improved, or possibly not used, depending on how work on articles relating to Holme St. Cuthbert and the surrounding area progresses.
