I am Professor of Architecture and Civil and Environmental Engineering at UC Berkeley.
We spend most of our time in built spaces that substantially affect our health, wellbeing, productivity, energy consumption and overall environmental impact. Buildings accounted for 39% of US primary energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions and 74% of US electrical energy consumption. I have been working on aspects of each of these issues. I am focused on finding ways to reduce energy consumption in buildings and, at the same time, improve indoor environmental quality.
I am interested on increasing the quality of Wikipedia articles related to energy, architecture, sustainability and indoor environmental quality (lighting, acoustics, thermal comfort, indoor air quality). Every year I assign in a grad class a homework in which the students will improve or create Wikipedia page. If you are interested in giving a similar homework to your students, feel free to contact me. I will be glad to share the material that I use.
