Pastry Puffins is the brand name for a puff pastry fundraising product manufactured by Dutchland Frozen Foods of Lester, Iowa. Puff pastry by nature is a light, flaky dough that is constructed of several hundred alternating layers of dough and butter. Pastry Puffins use European-style butter because it is drier and has 2% more butterfat than traditional butters, producing a creamier taste and preferred mouthfeel. In the Pastry Puffins product the dough encapsulates several varieties of fillings in a square configuration with scalloped edges and slits for venting moisture and exposing the filling in each unit.[1]

One package of Pastry Puffins contains 12 1.75 ounce units. The fruit flavored varieties are packaged with two sealed icing packets for drizzling on top of the product. Because puff pastry does not contain yeast, the Pastry Puffins product can be taken directly from the freezer to the oven.
