Sturgeonslawyer is the occasional online cognomen of a writer of technical training and other stuff, residence in the San Francisco Bay area. He has been active in various online communities, most but not all related in some way to science fiction and fantasy, since the 1970s.
The name "Sturgeonslawyer" is, of course, a contraction of "Sturgeon's Lawyer," which derives in turn from Sturgeon's Law, coined by Theodore Sturgeon, in the form "99% of everything is crap." As a reviewer of books since the 1970s, and more recently of music CDs, Sturgeonslawyer feels it his task not to lambaste the huge amount of bad work he encounters, but to seek the elusive 1% and share it with others. "A 'killer review' can be fun to read, but doesn't really help me find things I would enjoy."
Sturgeonslawyer also writes stories and songs, and has occasionally published and performed them.
His special interests include Christianity, science fiction and fantasy (SFF), progressive rock music, philosophy, and sleeping.
Sturgeonslawyer thinks that excessive use of hyperlinks in a Web page is a clear sign of a diseased mind.
