About me

edit

When I'm not camping in my RV I can be found out in my yard gardening . When you grow your own vegetables you tend to eat more.[1] I love gardening in small challenging spaces to create healthy landscapes that give back. I also enjoy cooking and lean heavy on the home grown vegetables.

My Wikipedia interests

edit

If I'm active in the future on Wikipedia I'll probably add traveling or gardening content as well as camping hacks that help save time and space.

Article Evaluation

edit

There is a high school in Lake Stevens, Washington that was dubbed the “Pink Palace” for many years. That piqued my interest and I began searching how the high school got its nickname. I visited the Lake Stevens High School article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: there is missing history of the school, the article over-represents sports while under-representing clubs and activities, and there are link issues throughout the article.

Missing Information

edit

I was very interested in the history of Lake Stevens High School. Upon viewing the article, I found there to be very little written about the high school’s actual history, and what was written was inaccurate and lacking links or citations. I know the high school's history can be linked back to the "White Palace". The “White Palace” was located near the current location of Mt. Pilchuck Elementary as stated by the Lake Stevens Historical Society and is included in an article by historylink.org.

Disproportionate Representation

edit

The article did lean heavily on sports, boys’ sports in particular, making up a significant portion of the article. However, it lacked any club information and there was only mention of a few school activities. This section is lacking material and could use reorganizing.

edit

There are many notable alumni that attended Lake Stevens High School. Each have reference links provided to explore their achievements; however, several links are to incorrect articles. There are also external links that are either dead or are to pages not related to this school (i.e., Woodinville Band).

Summary

edit

This article provides a broad overview of Lake Stevens High School. It is missing comprehensive content, along with sources in general. It has many broken or irrelevant links and is underwhelming when it comes to describing its history, as well as what the school offers for clubs and activities. I think this article is informational if you are looking for notable alumni or sports related information but is grossly lacking factual information on its history and school offerings. It could use some citations of factual information and a cleanup of broken links.
