In Wikipedia, consistent application of policies, guidelines, and actions should be strived for. Although some use the term "other crap exists", there should be consistent treatment of articles.
Whatever action is done should be done in a consistent manner. Arbitrary and capricious actions ought to be avoided.
When an article is nominated for deletion, treatment of similar articles can lay a precedent for what to do. Previous treatment of similar articles should not be used as a definitive indicator of what to do but can offer guidance.
Reference to another example should not lead to the accusation of being pointy. Instead, cooperation should be our goal.
