The Drive Trail

Created in 2021, this trail runs along the drive between Snaresbrook in East London and South Woodford, also in East London. The trail itself is around a kilometre long. Many factors went into the creation of this trail, ideas such as the benefits to wildlife as people understand and interact with it appropriately, the idea that it may encourage walkers to explore the urban green space, the improvements to both physical and mental health were all considered by the creators of the trail. Each marker indicating the direction of the trail has a symbol on it, featuring wildlife and fauna once indigenous to the forest that once surrounded it, Epping Forest, but no longer encompasses it as expansion or towns and cities, particularly London has left this section of urban green space isolated from the rest of the once vast forest. This trail is one of the many ways people are trying to appreciate the beauty of forests and the benefits they bring to society.
