Markus Ulrik Elfborg (Born 15 March 1992) is a Swedish professional footballer who plays as a left winger for Swedish club Trelleborgs. He made his international debut in the 2012 European championship qualifier 2-1 defeat against Hungary as a substitute and went on to gain a further 4 caps for the Swedes, albeit with a 5 year gap between his 4th and 5th appearance.

He began his youth career at boyhood heroes AIK but after three and a half years he was released, Elfborg almost gave up on football after that until a friend talked him into accompanying him to an youth invitational at Swedish second division team Trelleborgs, after a few sessions he signed a deal with the club he would go on to play for in two different stages of his career. Elfborg made his senior debut in a substitute appearance against Hammarby where he set up the equalizing goal in a stunning 3-3 draw announcing himself as a free kick specialist from the beginning, he was a shining star in a season that ended in the misery of relegation, providing 12 assists and 3 goals in his first season, earning him the young player of the month on two occasions and a nomination of Young Swedish Player of the Year, Elfborg's second season was dogged by injury restricting him to only 12 appearances in total but on his third and final season of his first stint at the club he recaptured his earlier form that once saw him named as the heir to Kim_Källström's throne, scoring 5 and assisting 16 goals in 23 games and rumours of potential moves to Benfica and Montpellier began to surface.

In 2014, Elborg decided to allow his contract to run down as he decided the time was right to test himself in tougher leagues, a potential move to Newcastle United fell through at the eleventh hour, leaving Elfborg without a club as preseason approached, he briefly trained with Celtic as new manager Ronny Deila looked to bring new blood into the club but he eventually chose to sign for Atalanta after hearing manager Stefano Colantuono's long term vision for the club, the move to Italy would prove too much for Elfborg to cope with as he struggled to adapt to the style of play and the culture surrounding him and after just 11 appearances, nine of which came from the bench, he returned home to Sweden with GIF Sundsvall, his displays there were impressive but ultimately not enough to earn him a permanent deal, upon returning Italy both the player and club agreed to a termination of his contract and shortly after he returned to where it all began at Trelleborgs.
