Welcome Symode09 (talk · contribs),
I'm glad to meet you. First things first, be sure to get started on the general assignments on the main VC page, and report your progress on this page below.
By the way, here's a little advice: participants at RfA's are very nit picky, and anything in a gray area is likely to get criticism from someone, and any criticism can snowball into a pile-on of opposition. One gray area is the mimicking of elements of Wikipedia's user interface, such as the message alert you have on your user page. It would probably be a good idea to remove it.
Please tell me about yourself, like what activities or departments of Wikipedia you've been involved with the most, and your main accomplishments here, etc. The Transhumanist 08:39, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
- About Me
- Hi! I'm a student in Perth, WA, Australia and, am curretly studying the media in year 10. I have a huge interest in Australian, British and American media, advertising and, in particular, visual media such as movies and even more so, television and its technical side. I am quite interested in photography, contributing many images to the articles I name below.
- I am a major contributor to my schools page, Aquinas College, Perth and, the page related to the land surrounding the school, the Mount Henry Peninsula.
- Nice to meet you. I've taken the liberty to indent your reply above (click "edit" to see how this is done). It's customary to indent and sign replies. Sign replies by placing four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your message. That will post your username and a time stamp.
- Those subjects sound like pretty interesting general topics. Have you browsed the Lists of basic topics yet? There's a List of basic photography topics on there, and a List of basic film topics, List of basic visual arts topics and a List of basic marketing topics. But nothing on television or advertising per se. Perhaps you would like to look over these lists to see if they are complete, and maybe even make a new List of basic television topics and List of basic advertising topics.
- Sounds like a good assignment. I'll be happy to assist on the creation of the latter two. The way to create a list of basic topics is with the Template:BLT. To use it, create a page, say List of basic television topics and in it type {{BLT|television|Television}} and save. Then edit it again, and fill in the missing info, like a lead paragraph, and links for each section. See the other basic lists to get a feel for the design. Good luck, and have fun.
