I am what I would consider a typical user of Wikipedia. I use it often for quick reference and for detailed study. I have not made any contributions yet, except for a couple of comments on talk pages.
I see my value as a registered user to be a single voice of a typical user. I'm amazed with the expertise I've seen in many articles. I'm impressed by some of the discussions I've read on talk pages. I see passion, I see extraordinary efforts to make article be as accurate as possible, and I see the dedication to the mission of the Wikipedia.
I was a middle aged adult when I began using a computer, which coincidentally was the same year Wikipedia was founded. My computer skills didn't grow as quickly as Wikipedia did, but some of my skills were enhanced by articles I read on Wikipedia. I was somewhat skeptical of it's accuracy and read many articles about it being unreliable and filled with inaccuracies. I cautioned others to be careful with it, to look for other sources to verify Wikipedia articles. And, as you all know, Wikipedia cleaned up the vandalized pages and kept growing at an astounding pace.
I hope to make a contribution here and there.
