Maggie Dent

Maggie Dent is an Australian author, teacher, counsellor and speaker who has written books on parenting and resilience. Dent specialises in early childhood and adolescence. Her work is influenced by her own experiences as a child, as mother to four sons and her work as a teacher, counsellor, celebrant and palliative carer.[1]

Dent has written[2] and been outspoken[3] on the effects of the modern world on children and on the importance of silence and stillness in reducing stress on children. She has been critical of the Australian Federal Government's education reforms including NAPLAN testing for children in Year 3 [4] and the decision to rank schools on a website based on test results.[5] [6].
