Takadimi is a rhythm-pedagogy system, intended to teach rhythmic concepts in Western music to students of all ages. It was developed by Richard Hoffman, William Pelto, and John W. White.

Overview

edit

In both simple and compound meter, the pulse is given the syllable "ta".

In simple meter, the pulse is further broken into "ta-ka-di-mi". In compound meter, the pulse is broken into "ta-va-ki-di-da-ma".

Observe that both rhythmic patterns are compatible; they both begin with "ta", and the middle syllable is "di".
