Bodybuilding is a type of physical fitness which is typically obtained by a combination of weightlifing, conditioning, and proper nutrition. Bodybuilders may apply the use of protein supplements, vitamins, steroids, and other assorted treatments to aid in physical development.
Weightlifting
editMost bodybuilders employ the use of three core lifts, along with several auxiliary supplements, which usually target the same areas as the core lift. In addition, most stretch before and after their workout, and often incorporate a variant of conditioning, such as a rope or bike.
Bench Press
editPerhaps the most familiar of the three core lifts, the bench press requires the lifter to lay on a flat bench, grip the bar with reasonable space between arms, lower the bar to his chest while inhaling, and quickly extend his arms upward fully while exhaling. A variant of the bench press is the close-grip press, which retains most of the form, but with less arm space.
