Hi, I'm Tatiana Boshenka, and I'm an electrical engineer. My current job is designing instrumentation and controls systems for U.S. commercial nuclear plants. I've recently started a wiki of my own, about Averting Human Extinction, based on the same MediaWiki software used by Wikipedia. If you have any ideas or knowledge that can help avert human extinction, please visit and feel free to contribute. A lot of research needs to be done to just fill out the wiki with what we currently know, too. I welcome anyone who feels the urge to work on that research.
I'm also involved in launching an internal wiki in my company, for us to use as a central repository for all corporate knowledge. We need one badly. I refer to Wikipedia frequently for both work and play, but only rarely have I edited it, so far. I'm mostly here to learn Wikipedia's editing conventions and guidelines, which I want to follow in my own wiki, and on our corporate wiki. I'll probably be involved in teaching the other engineers in my company (which has about 10,000 employees) how to edit our wiki. I expect as they become fluent in this process, they'll also be much more likely to edit Wikipedia itself to add the things they know. They're a pretty smart bunch, so hopefully my efforts will prove useful eventually to Wikipedia as well as to my fellow employees.
I'm a rank newbie, of course, but I'll try to behave, and I'm extremely teachable and open to suggestions and criticism. Please be polite in your corrections, if at all possible. I generally cry if treated harshly.
I'm delighted to be here, and hope that I can someday become a valuable contributor to Wikipedia, which is surely one of the coolest inventions ever by the human species. =)
