UNITED DEMOCRATIC ALLIANCE

United Democratic party(UDA) is a Kenyan political party.

It is a political party that was formed in the year 2021 by Johnston Muthama; a politician and a former Senator for Machakos County (2013-2017) and Member of Parliament of Kangundo Constituency (2008-2013).

The formation of the Party is largely known to belong to Kenyan deputy President Dr William Samoei Ruto who is believed to have spearheaded the party's formation to use it as an option amid the deteroriation of the atmosphere in Jubilee Party; The current president's and deputy president's vehicle to 2017 presidency.

Most of the politicians including those in office in the Tangatanga Wing- a wing siding with the deputy president joined the party.

Surprisingly, the party's has a yellow colour identifying it being a replica of the deputy president's United Republican Party (URP), the party thay coalisced with The National Alliance of President Uhuru Kenyatta back in 2013 to win elections. URP later merged with TNA in 2017 to form the Jubilee Party.

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) rose to popularity after the entry of vocal Tangatanga politicians. The party filled several by-election candidates and historically had the first Member of Parliament registered on its Name, MP for Msambweni Constituency, Hon Feisal Abdallah.

The party gained more fame when deputy president William Ruto pledged to use it as his presidency vehicle in the 2022 general elections.

Deputy President William Ruto was later nominated as the party's Presidential nominee in it's National Delegation Conference on 15th of March 2022 which beyond doubt proved his allegiance to the party.

Later, The party joined forces with other parties including one time Vice President Musalia Mudavadi's Amani National Congress (ANC), Senator Moses Wetangula's FORD Kenya, Former Agriculture Minister Mwangi Kiunjuri's TSP among other other 10 political parties to form the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, a coalition of political parties to work together towards forming of the next government after the August 9th, 2022 general election.

The coalition pledged to salvage the Kenyan crumbling economy by application of the Bottom-Up economic model which they believe would better the living standards of common wananchi who are believed to crowd the bottom of the economic pyramid. The coalition won in the subsequent general election of 9th of August 2022 and the IEBC announced Dr. William Samoei Ruto (party leader and presidential candidate) as the fifth president of the republic), with UDA grabbing a minority of the members of Parliament as Kenya Kwanza took the day in Senate and a majority Governors. The presidential election results was petitioned by Azimio party leader Raila Odinga who came second. The petition was fronted to the Supreme court whose 7 judges, including the Chief justice dismissed the petition terming the evidence unsubstantial (hot air). Therefore, declaration of William Ruto fully elected stood.
