Scribble Hub is a free online web novel publishing platform launched as a means for "authors to post their original stories and readers to find exactly what they are looking for."[1] As of July 12, 2024, the website has over 25,800 published novels.[2][3] It features novels of 31 genres such as Action, Romance, Sci-Fi, FanFiction, Boys Love, Girls Love, LitRPG, etc., and 764 tags.[4][5] The main website also has an accompanying forum for users to discuss novels, chapters, authors, day-to-day life, and the website itself.[6]

The creator of the website is a developer who goes by the name of Tony.[7]

Features

edit

Scribble Hub has multiple features for authors and readers, and continues to gain new ones based on user suggestions.[8][9][10]

Authors

edit

The website provides authors a range of features designed to enhance their writing and engagement with readers.

Some notable features are:

  • Detailed statistics including novel pageviews, reader comments, growth metrics, geographic reader distribution[11], and favorite counts.
  • Integration with crowdfunding platforms like Patreon, PayPal, Ko-Fi[12], and SubscribeStar[13] for direct support. 100% of the donations go to the author.
  • Capability to save chapters as drafts and restore previous revisions.
  • Scheduled release functionality for chapters.
  • Creation of novel-specific glossaries to aid reader understanding.
  • Ability to link and describe related series (ex. “Prequel”, “Sequel”, “Side Story”, etc.)
  • Interaction with readers through social tools such as personalized author profile pages and forums.

Readers

edit

As a site created for readers alongside authors, there are a multitude of features on Scribble Hub which cater towards readers.

Some notable features are:

  • Personalized reading lists to track current reads and manage preferences.
  • Text view editing options such as font size and page width
  • Optional auto-bookmarking feature to resume reading seamlessly.
  • Detailed public statistics for each story, including metrics on popularity, ratings, and reader engagement.
  • Genre filtering options to tailor the site's content to specific interests.
  • Ability to search for a random novel
  • Recommendations of similar novels
  • Social tools for direct interaction with authors

Website Look and Feel

edit

The main homepage has 3 major sections, each designed to promote visibility for all the novels on the platform. It is also possible to enable release filtering for the home page to exclude, or include, certain genres, novels, and tags.

edit

There is a “Trending” HTML carousel which initially displays the top 9 trending novels of the day, and leads to a list of 289 novels. It is updated at 00:00 UTC. According to a moderator of the website, trending "makes use of different metrics of stats that are hidden in order to prevent people ‘gaming' the system."[14]

Latest Series

edit

The “Latest Series” is an HTML carousel which, much like the “Trending” carousel, displays the 9 newest novels (called Series) which were added to the website. Additionally, the "Latest Series" leads to a running list of all the novels added to the website.

Latest Updates

edit

The “Latest Updates” list displays the 25 most recently updated novels, linking to the updated chapters. As noted by the website developer, Tony, there is an anti-cheat system in place "which prevents users from deleting a chapter and reposting it to get it back to the top of the 'Latest Updates' section."[15]
