OK, it's a pretty aggressive name. It was actually something like my 30th choice, because I was late to the party, and you people already took all of my ideas. Among the usernames I tried first were Thufir Hawat, Plocostomus, and ScruffyTheJanitor.
TheCensorFencer suits me well, however. I believe that censorship, in nearly all its forms, is highly destructive to the development and maintenance of the human intellect; both for individuals and for societies. I also enjoy constructive linguistic sparring, especially for a cause, and there's no cause like free speech.
But fear not, I do my discursive roughhousing elsewhere. You can always expect me to be easy-going, polite, and focused on making Wikipedia better when you see me in an editing context. I believe quite strongly in the dream that Wikipedia represents, and that dream will only come true if all voices feel safe to be heard.
