Harry the Hydrocarbon is a fictional character who appears in a series entitled "Oil Refining in the '90s" created by the Esso fuel company in 1992 as an educational video for grammar school pupils.
Harry takes the form of a long chain of carbon atoms with hydrogen atoms attached. His general form can be compared to that of a caterpillar. He speaks with a Scottish accent. According to the British Film Industry website, the narrator for the series was Bill Paterson. Since Harry the Hydrocarbon is the narrator, one must assume that he is voiced by Bill Paterson. [1]
During the course of the series, Harry meets several other hydrocarbon molecules named Winifred, Gordon, Dougie and Mildred.
