editAfter the vampire queen Mary is deposed in a coup d'état, Andrew Bennett, a vampire who seeks to protect humanity from his race, searches for her killer. The trail leads him to the Legion of Doom's headquarters, where he discovers that the legion has been massacred and the vampire cult, under its new leader, seeks the genocide of humankind. Massacre survivor Lex Luthor gives Andrew an address and a syringe of his blood, which he claims will save the world, before dying. Andrew delivers the blood with a note to the address before traveling to the Hall of Justice in Washington, D.C. to alert the Justice League, only to discover that league member Hal Jordan is already a vampire. Hal, whose Green Lantern powers render him immune to sunlight, kills Andrew and Zan for uncovering the plan.
Batman receives Andrew's note and the syringe when he arrives at the Batcave. He begins investigating Andrew's disappearance and provides the Batman family with vampire hunting tools. Green Arrow, Black Canary, and Arsenal also begin hunting vampires, while Hal kills Barry Allen after the vampires conclude that, as the Flash, Barry's powers would make him a poor vampire. As a vampire horde, including a converted Zatanna, eats criminals in Gotham City, Hal turns Wonder Woman into a vampire, and they conspire to frame Batman for Barry's murder. Batman and Zan's sister Jayna investigate the sewers beneath the Hall of Justice, where Batman deduces that Hal killed Zan and Andrew after analyzing a piece of Zan's remains.
