The Man, The Myth, The Legend

edit

On August 17, 1987 The New Yorker magazine published an article by Alec Wilkinson, about Jean-Pierre A. Fenyo, a 23 years young sidewalk-based Philosopher who would offer passersby "Free Advice" holding a sign that read "Free Advice...not qualified to give medical or legal advice, not a mystic or a religion."

Since 1987 the The Free Advice Man has given Free Advice to over 100,000 persons directly and to arguably at least 60 million people indirectly, on a wide variety of issues, except for medical advice and legal advice. He has sat out in public in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington (DC), Baltimore, Palm Springs, Budapest, London, Brussels, Amsterdam, Vienna, and other places throughout The United States and Europe. He has given Free Advice in front of The United Nations Headquarters, The European Union Parlament, and The White House.

There is an article published in the New Yorker written by Alec Wilkinson about The Free Advice Man (i.e. J.P. Fenyo) who was 23 at the time. It was later re-published in Alec Wilkinson's anthological book "Mr. Apology and other Essays". Mr. Fenyo reportedly gives free advice except for legal and medical advice, which he states he is not qualified to provide.

His humility knows no bounds, his modesty more infinite than the universe, and is greater even than his desire for recognition. In no way can he be accused of confusing shaking hands for a photograph with near-religious desire for his expertise.

Philosophy

edit

As well as being a Philosopher, he is also a published Writer, Poet and Journalist. His first book, "Infinitism: Secret Key To The Doors of Wisdom", Copyright 1994 Fenyo, Library of Congress, is about his own theory of Infinity. JP says in his book that is the ultimate concept for non-violent mass social psychological change"[1]

He is a signatory of an Open Letter to the Scientific Community refuting the widely accepted Big-Bang Theory.[2]

Influence

edit

He has made several accurate predictions and has foreseen several things, including the election of President Obama and Vice-President Biden.[3]

He claims to have given advice to powerful, famous and important people like President Bill Clinton, Vice-President Joe Biden, Nobel Prize winning author Imre Kertesz, Billionaire George Soros, the late Science Fiction Grandmaster Author Isaac Asimov, the Actor Robin Williams, Comedic Actor and Film Director Woody Allen, Israeli President Shimon Peres, the late actor Andy Kaufman, and many others. There are some indications that his claims may have some merit.

Through his advice and media exposure he has had a significant influence on various European and American historical events, including elections in at least two countries.

Today

edit

The Free Advice Man currently resides in London, England, with his wife, Cathy Fenyo.
