Argentina films

Are you kidding! Your article Veronico Cruz is great too! By all means help with starting articles from Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/List of films without article/List of missing Argentine Films. I have only got as far as adding films A-B to the lists and also C-D to the 2000s and the 1940s. I am also adapting to format more like List of Canadian films:2000s -I will include a column for notability and genre too. I am only just beginning in my conquest!! Well done for starting Hector Oliviera. He was on my hot list for starting. As I am checking each film for notability I am as far as N now (once it is done I can seriously BEEF! the lists and make them full and complete. See User:Ernst Stavro Blofeld/Blofeld's Secret Note Pad for my hot list of key directors and one or two actors that seem to appear on nearly every film. Hugo del Carrill I know has an article on spanish wikipedia -its ridiculous we don't have an article for him yet. Bolivia once again was on my top list! However if you are uploading screenshots can you state the rationale as in SEE HERE for example (you can copy and paste it into each image you upload saves time) and any other info you regard as appropriate. Thanks pal yes I am glad you noticed about Cronica - I started it yesterday as I said every article I have in mind we simultaneously start! The articles were very similar, but yours had a bit more info on the story and other etc to I moved mine to yours! Check the categories though if you feel unsure. Its very good though because it shows we both have a very good understanding of Argentine cinema. I have now added the film list of titles on List of Argentine films:1980s just needs filling! Some pointers

E.g on Nazareno. - always index the surname followed by a, then the first name next to the categories. Category:Argentine television actors exists. If you can see the person or film at www.cinenacional.com the official Argentine site which I beleive has a photo of him include the link. In the talk pages if you could place the biography template connects to WikiProject Biography (I am a member). Also not really important now is that the filmography would be in year order not in reverse e.g John Wayne - I am also often guilty of this as it saves time reordering -but if the filmo is short then it can be done quickly. Starters looking fine though.

Yes very good. THat cinenacional link is useful. With categories say for instance the name Olga Zubarry. If you didn't index it in the category it would be indexed under O for Olga when the norm is for surname under Z for Zubarry. This is the answer! Cool stuff. Also there are a number of figures in Argentine cinema who are from Uruguay and Chile. The Argentine categories should be kept for these (because they have worked in CInema of Argentina) but don't forget to replicate to add the home country ones also e.g for Caetano-Uruguayan film producers etc. Caetano is very much Uruguyan- moved to Argentine when he was 16 I beleive so should go in both cats. Un oso rojo sounds good -as this develops each article is becoming linked with actor sna ddirector which rid of red links on other pages. Several things about Alejo García Pintos though. Always check cinenacional for the birth dates I have added, please index of the person by surname e.g Pintos, Alejo and the actor stub cat is more specific - it should be SouthAm-actor-stub. See ya Ernst Stavro Blofeld 15:13, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

As one of my heroes of British TV Del Boy would say "Lovely Jubbly" in relation to Kamachatka!! Nice going. You really feel good when you see the actors in the film are no longer red linked and you visit older pages you start and gradually see actors added! I stubbed Enrique Carreras perhaps the most prolific (Peruvian) Argentine director and producer of all time. Remember though to add the rationale when you upload the images and I wouldn't really advice a gallery of copywrighted film images as they are a target from our abogados!! -maybe disperse them into the article or something? By the way I think vacia or vaciar means to empty and vaca means cow? Either way I was trying to describe a cow's backside!! Ha!! I look forward to hearing from you. Remember how the Cinema of Argentina page looks now. 6 months time I hope that it becomes so detailed that it branches out into articles of periods because the page will be over length!! e.g Cinema of Argentina in the 1950s. Over 100 years of cinema of a biggish film producer -there are a thousands of things to cover from cinematography to actual cinemas in Argentina, to editors and score mussicans working in the industry to filming locations, companies, international collaborations and festivals where Argentine film is reagrded. Discussing the styles of cinema in each decade and discussing films and actors and directors within them -wow! DO you realise just how detailed that article could be? I've established Wikipedia:WikiProject Argentina/Cinema of Argentina -the centre for the Argentine film industry! on wikipedia to organize the work. Please add missing people or films that require attention that you know of to the page. No probs mate this way you can highlight the films you regard as important on the list of major missing films or whatever and I know what your aims are too. Note though that I don't intend to start every film every filmed in Argentina!! - I filtered out many of the four minute indepenedent doucmentaries or whatever removing many hundreds from the list I notcied Argenitna since 2000 has a fetish for short films. Why?Anyway I removed the majority of those keeoing the ones though that won awards but the missing list is still enormous!! One of my key aims on wikipedia is not only to provide info but to remove the notion of a world centred around the US and England - remove Anglo-Centric tendiencies. This means looking at the world from a different perspective anywhere on the planet and filling in an extensive knoweldge of cultures trying to establish it from a different viewpoint -e.g certain films will mean more people maybe in Argentina than other places but that shouldn't prevent wikipedia providing knowledge of it!! Look 8 or so weeks ago we had only about nine films for Argentina and only about 15 actors -trsut me Argentina was so poorly covered this is why I took an interest. My aims are to stub the missing articles and then gradually expand them into fuller articles -this takes time. Most of the stubs are fine as a start already but given time they should become fuller more decent articles, Now if you want to concnetrate on only a few thats up to you but I only start "stubs" if I beleive in time they will become fuller quality articles. I beleive a well set up stub with an info box providing , info and a film poster with a brief synopsis is far more useful than it not existing at all -I live in the hope that others users may expand them. I guess its kind of like an argument between quality and quantity. Well I am hoping that eventually Argentina as in any other country will have high quality full length film articles in abundance covering both eventually. But you understand its gonna take a lot of time for this to work!! But any work done whether in stubbing new articles or expanding exisiting ones can only improve things!!

Yes I kind of had an inkling she was something of a clown act in America. Her whole life was the perfect frame for gags and ridicule in the press with her playboy antics, followed by the billionaire geriatric, followed by her show and her weight ballooning. I have to admit she looked pretty amazing in the early nineties and very fit and attractive in Naked Gun 33 1/3 but when I saw pcitures of her over 200 pounds I was amazed at the change!! Only 39 as well.

I'm thinking. Do you not think it best to keep the spanish titles for the articles and then just state the english in the article? For exmaple people familiar with the titles e.g El Custodio might look through the category and not find it when it is there in english? under The Minder? Hmm. What do you think? Yes it is debatable but I happen to agree with you that if the title is long it should be in english. If short and sweet it could remain in Spanish espeically if it doesn't translate very easily. Nygaard I think concentrates on indexing with categories on wikipedia that is his sole function. I don;t have a problem with him sorting the categories out but he shouldn't be removing any foreign letters from peoples names or titles. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 16:20, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

I did mention the indexing thing before. If you just use the default sort without foreign lettering it will categorize it properly. Trust me on this. If you index the categories using foreign lettering letters with accents e.g á will come after z and not be classed as a. If you look in the category then the full accent title of the name will be there but categorized in alphabetical order -it is just a categroy code you need to use. I don't have aproblem with Nygaard sorting out indexing as long as it doesn't affect articles and peoples hard work but it is his tone i often find difficult losing sight of what is really important -the information in an article rather than a minor fault with a category. Foreign spellings are quite legitimately removed from many articles and their article names. This is in accordance with many Wikipedia:Requested moves decisions, with Wikipedia:Naming conventions and several of its subpages, etc. Our article is at Romania, for example. Not at România. Our article is at Ho Chi Minh, not at Hồ Chí Minh. Our article is at Arpad Elo, not at Árpád Élő. And many, many more like them. Gene Nygaard 16:36, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Sounds like a good idea. To start with I would discuss it in the Cinema of Argentina page but when this page is written properly and more fully it will need to be split then -at present it needs developing though. If people browse through the categories and click on the film the english is written next to the title anyway. However what if you are searching for an Argentine film in the index and can't remember the full name in spanish and can't find it if it is in english and don't know what it is? Well your great work at removing the red links has a knock on effect in connecting with other articles which in turn removes red links on others. That makes me at my happiest when I see films and actors that I have started in the past now developing and red links being removed on them either in their filmographies or their cast sections!! Everything is already starting to connect very nicely. No amazingly as yet the stub people haven't created a film-editor-stub. I'll have to propose one asap!! More about Argentina New Wave Cinema

What was a good edit? Hey its not that I am not capable of producing high class-articles - The Temptress! but beleive me i will eventually its just I feel it important to set the articles up first and style later. If I do the setting up and you can gradually improve them this is great!. I noticed you doing the studios -good work . WHatever the case we now have 307 articles and counting on films!! Soon enough the stubs can be written into styled articles. I beleive between the two of us we are doing a terrific job! If you could can you please start Lumiton Studios -this was a mahor Argentine company and it is red-linked on the Cinema of Argentina main article. I have also found a new way to link our film articles to the Argentine list. e.g

Our goals seem so different?? I was thinking they are very similar!!! I disagree - we are both are trying to produce an encyclopedia of Argentine cinema -I thought if anything our goals are the practically the same to connect everything and eventually produce some very good articles!!! The only way we differ though, I think is that I want to cover the entire history of Argentine cinema including the earliest films but you are concnetrating more on the new wave of the late 1990s and 2000s and producing high qulaity articles even to begin with. Either way I am beginning to see some great links between articles beginning to appear and I know eventually people will be amazed at the work. Well done!! OK I see you have done some Italian films of the 1950s. I must admit I am a little disappointed you don't feel the need to cover more than a handful of films and you don't really think much of my work. And my work needn't be bad if those articles are written into good articles which I hope they will. You seem to think an article should be A-class immediately -but stub writing takes time to write into good articles and if I can set up the bulk of the cinema over the decadeas and then develop them I feel this is useful -I see you disagree. A stub I beleive is better than nothing. And you know I am quite capbale of writing decent articles so give me some credit Hey. For now I am going to redirect the titles towards the lists until articles can be written better -keeps control of the amount of stubs too. Then the remaining articles that can be written into full articles can be written and not stubbed. THankyou for your help anyway -I'vre seen some very good work I hope you keep it up whereever you want to edit. I hope I haven't done anything to change your opinion of anything - maybe you have got fed up with me I don't know judging by the "more from Blofeld" paragrpahing of your talk page! Cinema templates

Just to let you know the templates for Italian and Spanish cinema have been created. Please use them on any articles or add them to any current articles you are working on thanks I hope you like them:

I have justed added the image to Libertad Lamarque. I must say I am very surprised you don't consider anything before 1995 from Argentine notable I might agree with you from 1955-1994 but what about 1935 -1950 ? This was seen as the classic "golden age" of Argentine cinema and there are many films worthy of an article. Libertad Lamarque and Hugo del Carril in Latin American cinema were major actors and should of course get coverage as with many of their films and other actors. Internationally I totally agree with you that post 1995 more of the films are globally notable as they have been released across Europe but that doesn't mean early eras are pointless ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ ^{"I've been expecting you"} 13:22, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Thankyou for you response. Yes feel free to add to the content of the Argentine template I reckon we should create the Category:Argentine film awards and the box can redirect to this to include Clarin etc. Also I'd like to see an icon in the box for Studios maybe also created the category Argentine film studios or something as well as in the cinema of Argentina category so the template can direct to this. I have already created the Brazilian template a while back but I need to standardize it. Yes I have just added a few images to the Potala and Kundun Scorses 1997 film also related to Tibet. Also see Bahram Bayzai which I unstubbed yesterday - this time in Iran!!! Brazilian cinema

As you can see the tmeplate has been made. I have started Mauro Alice and Walter Carvalho to fill in the red links on the template but I beelive they are both very notable figures in Brazilian cinema = Walter Carvalho has won an incredibel 30 awards!!!! You really are a super guy. Or should that be Super Luigi in relation to Super Mario (Luigi being his brother)!!!!! Hey plumber dude! THanks for the award amigo. It does bother me that wiki abogados y policias interfere with peoples work. The question is does it really matter? I always beleive a name of something looks better in capitals -also if you look at the titles of the spanish films on the posters you'll see that more often than not they are capitalized. I do believe that the name of the article should be the original and I do prefer capitalized regardless of what language it is all names of things should be capitalized. Just to let you know that film-editor-stub and screen-writer-stub now exist I closed the request after a succcessful consensus. PLease use and correct these on the Argentine film editors and screenwriters and any others. Today most of the cinem templates have been completed -I have been all over the world -just created a Georgian film score composer from Russian cinema!! The most diffuclt was Indian cinema template

1990s begining of the new wave

Its great that you are covering some 1990s Argentine films I was going to ask you to do that. I have reached the early 1980s now with the redirects and will get to the mid 1990s soon enough-then the lists need filling and articles (which can be articles) will be branched out. I have to admit Argentine cinema 1955-1993 is quite poor!! Too many dirty comedies!!

Luigi its great to have you back!!! How are you amigo? If you are editing American films I have created templates for the decades. E.g if the film is from 1956 add the 1950s template at the footer which is

Cool! Hey I've found a way to shut up the bot -that wasn't why I left before though although it frickin annoys me too!!. See Template:Blofeld. My rationales are in there. CLick on film poster or screenshot or bio rationale and just copy and template the huge rationale pleates I made. Cinema templates are up for deletion

Unbelievably a nasty user has put all of the cinema templates up for deletion including the Argentina template which will affect some 500+ articles. I believe they serve a great purpose for establishing a better understanding and connection between articles. But in total haste he has gone ahead and proposed the lot. If my hard work is deleted I swear I am leaving Wikipedia for good. I am willing to limit the use of the American template but not the others.

I've just seen. Sorry. I tried many times to improve Casino Royale and I kept getting my edits immediately reverted. I added the Special effects section on the page which unbelievably I think they like but not a word of thanks but it is all in the wrong order. I also added the awards section which as yet has not been deleted. I too often get sick of users who rather than see the big picture--our massive improvements to Wikipedia pick up on the smallest of things. Even now after I have helped improve the article I still get the impression that it is only a matter of time before an abogado goes in and take sit all out. Unfortunately this is the down side to Wikipedia. Too many stubborn users!! I too will be reducing my input on Wikipedia but please don't leave. There are many users who are very aware of your great work . But thats life I guess you got to take the good with the bad. but looking at a neutral view - your contributions to the project have been highly valuable. Look how many crappy stubs now have great articles!!! Hopefully I can allow SPECTRE to grow and dominate all the abogados y policias!!! What concerns me is that I have put a lot of work into the Bond films and related articles and I am worried that certain users who are also guarding the casino Royale page will delete everything on all the others. I have come across a few other bond film which are being ruined by such policing taking out all images even free images which help give the picture. I know it can get you down. Check this out for double standards. On the Casino Royale article. I wasn't permitted to have an image of one of the key villains Mr. White on the page. Even though he is the key to the plot and is discussed well in the article he is considered by this user as "not worthy of an image, doesn't deserve one (even though he is a big enough character to have his own wikipedia article). He says "Only images which are the key to the plot and article should be included". So then I question why there is an image of the gun barrel in the plot section which is probably the most useless image you could find for the film - when it doesn't convey any info and is not even mentioned in the article!!! Strangely enough I didn't get a reply but he came up with a whole list of contradictory what wikipedia is or is not!. Its weird isn't it!!! Anyway I just choose to try to shut it out and foucs on all the positive comments and awards I have been given including for the Bond films!!

I noticed you have done some great work on US films inlcuding the Dove nice going!!! and always feel free to continue to work on the Latin films. Actually it would be great if you could add some major Brazilian films. This is next on my list to tackle. Good to hear from you again amigo. From Bloefeld

Yeah great! I began developing the French films of the 1920s although I'm trying to take over the world at once. They are so many missing great films, please add your name to the list as its only me at present for French cinema--crazy isn't it, nobody else has joined !! It would be also a good idea to add some of the most notable films you can think of and add them to the project page--a to-do list. I've been busy starting the article Deforestation in Brazil. When I get around to filling the French film lists I'm going to split by year and link all the years in the French film template like Template:CinemaofHongKong.
