Terrella's Field
editTerrella's Field is a contemporary American rock band from Champaign, Illinois. Founded in 2008, with it's first album (BIOMECHATRONIC) completed and released worldwide in 2012, Terrella's Field crosses multiple genres. The band mixes an impressive blend of influences as wide-ranging and diverse as Matthew Good, Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Peter Gabriel, Prince, Tool, Skrillex, Romeo Void, Afro Celt Sound System, Nine Inch Nails, Tori Amos, Bjork, Elvis Presley, Faith No More, D'Angelo, George Michael, IAMX, Marilyn Manson, Loreena McKennitt, Vienna Teng, Rachael Yamagata, Norah Jones, Patti Smith, Pinback, Portico Quartet, Sarah Slean, Silversun Pickups, Tom Waits, The Crystal Method, Swans, and Sevara, to name but a few.
BIOMECHATRONIC (2012)
editIn Terrella's Field debut release, BIOMECHATRONIC, song topics also appear to cover a wide ranging area from surfing/nature exploration-appeciation to the care and treatment of those afflicted with dementia to nightmares to social/political/environmental commentary and beyond. There are songs about lost love and the wry wisdom that comes from having survived tragedy. Some songs are satiric, others ironic. Some are purely whimsical and comedic. There are also interludes between.
Instrumentation on BIOMECHATRONIC, like it's influences and song topics, also varies greatly. Some songs feature a simple standard rock band setup, while others require extensive symphonic arrangements. In one song, even a tuba is used. Other songs need only a normal singer/songwriter presentation (vocal & piano) while others venture off to employ the use of today's most cutting edge electronic instruments.
Members
editAt present, Terrella's Field contains only one member. Due to the fact that American Freedom of Speech laws do not currently provide protection from corporate or private companies who would either fire or refuse to hire an individual whose public or artistic expression may not agree with their own, the one current member of Terrella's Field has chosen to remain semi-anonymous. Instead, he has chosen to simply call himself 'The Creator', and leave it at that.
Live Shows
editAs word of mouth spreads, and the impact of BIOMECHATRONIC is felt, The Creator has indeed expressed a desire to audition and rehearse a live band. An impressive tour would hopefully follow. In this method of music production, Terrella's Field greatly resembles the modern working method of one of it's main influences and heroes, Trent Reznor.
