Kia ora! I hang out on pages about Aotearoa making edits about things nobody really cares about. My life's goal is to make The Games (Australia) a good article.

Why 'TheWatermanNZ'?

edit

The NZ is self-explanatory, the 'the' is out of a past-held sense of self-importance, and the 'Waterman' is a little bit more niche.

The Fair Go Schools' Ad Awards, of which I was at one point in my childhood a devout follower, had in 2011 as its main prize a pack provided by a company called Waterman Innovations.[1] I liked the name, and I started using it for stuff where I wanted to feel like I had a cool brand. I've obviously since shifted to using my real name, but when it came to signing up for Wikipedia, I thought it best to draw on an old pseudonym. Unfortunately the cool name didn't do Waterman Innovations much good - they were put into liquidation in September of 2020.[2]

Declared conflicts of interest

  • I'm a member of one of the Wellington City Council's community boards, so anything I edit that's Wellington-local-government-related should be stared at with great intensity.
