Robert William Gehl[1] is the F. Jay Taylor Endowed Research Chair of Communication at Louisiana Tech University[2]. He is also an alumnus of the Fulbright Canada Research Chair program[3] with research in the Genealogy of Alternative Social Media[4], in addition to being an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Communication, Media, and Film at the University of Calgary[5]

Biography

In 2021, with academic researcher Sean T. Lawson, they coined the term "Masspersonal Social Engineering"[6]which defines how online Social Engineering Hackers create personalized content on a mass scale using hacker tools of 1) trashing [7], 2) pretexting,[8] 3) bullshitting [9], and 4) penetrating [10]built from tools of historical Social Engineering pioneers such as Ivy Lee[11][12]and Doris Flieschman[13]. In their published book, they explored Masspersonal Social engineering with efforts of Internet Research Agency[14] and Cambridge Analytica[15] during 2016 and 2020 elections.
