Canadian journalist Colby Cosh writes that McIntyre has assumed "a central role in one of history’s great scientific debates," that over global warming. [1]

Role in the controversy over emails leaked from the Climatic Research Unit

edit

Colby Cosh, writing in Maclean's magazine, believes McIntyre's criticisms of climate science are at the heart of the Climategate controversy. McIntyre is mentioned over 100 times in the leaked CRU emails. In the emails, climate researchers dismiss him as a "capitalist hireling" or "bozo," speculate over his funding, and argue about whether to ignore or counterattack him -- although some scientists do acknowledge that his criticisms have merit.
