Tim Baird is best known for founding Pinacolada Records, an independent record label based in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 2001. The label is home to the debut release of The Shocking Pinks (who have gone on to international fame with the New York based record label DFA Records)entitled 'Dance The Dance Electric' as well as the acclaimed debut releases (Real Groove, 2006; Real Groove, 2008)from Christchurch groups Tiger Tones,Pig Out,Headspace,Fanatica,Thisinformation and Rockwood.
He also worked also as the M.D. for RDU 98.5FM from 1991-96, and worked in Christchurch record store Galaxy Records from 1996-2006.As well as running the label, Baird is currently writing a Masters Thesis on Wine Tourism in New Zealand.He has also recently been published in the 2010 'Consumer Behaviour' textbook where his case study on Christchurch boy racers from 2009 is featured (McGraw Hill, 2009).He is also a current trustee on the CHART Board (CHART, 2009).
