The environmental policy in Nigeria is a federal government action to check and regulate activities which may have environmental impacts in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Generally, environmental policies exist to protect the future environment from the present actions or inactions of humans which might be harmful to it.[1] Environment-related problems has been a big issue in Nigeria especially since the advent of oil exploration, hence the need to put adequate policies in place to regulate these harmful practices and protect the environment. The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), which is a parastatal under the Federal Ministry of Environment is charged with the responsibility of enforcing all the environmental laws, guidelines, policies and regulations in Nigeria.[2]
