The Aurora Observatory is a progressive rock group from Roanoke / Franklin County Virginia area. In September of 2009 the group signed with Operational Media Ventures and since then has quickly established itself among other local and regional acts in the Mid-Atlantic area.

Conception / Early Activity

edit

The group formed in mid-2008 when former Savior Bullets members Jeff Reynolds and Chris Hodges along with bassist Matt Bowles (formerly of Don't Die on Purpose / The Baker Bros) began working on a project that would later become The Aurora Observatory. Phillip Roseberry joined a short time later on drums and the group began writing new songs almost immediately. Unfortunately just a few months later Phillip left the band due to scheduling conflicts, but still remains a close friend to the band. Chance Taylor, also formerly of Don’t Die on Purpose, NEMA, and The Baker Bros picked up where Phillip left off and quickly found a new home with group. In the winter of 2008 Daniel Honaker, a long time mutual friend of the group began playing percussion with the band. Shortly thereafter TAO aquired a sponsorship from The Shoppe Skate Shop and signed with Operational Media Ventures, managed by Adam Croft.

Demo (2009)

edit

In March of 2009 The Aurora Observatory recorded with Jordan Powers and Brandon Hackler both guitarists for Tooth & Nail Records recording artists Far-Less with Powers providing backing vocals on the track "In the Confusion".

Failure Of Imagination (2010)

edit

In May 2010 the band started production on their first full length album. Trey Richards, former guitarist for Bloodjinn and In Spite Of... recorded, mixed, and mastered the album for the band as well as made a guest appearance, playing a solo on the instrumental track "Primal Glow". The artwork for the album was created by friend and former Savior Bullets bandmate, Eric Pfeiffer. Failure of Imagination was released locally on October 8th, 2010, and later through all major retailers worldwide.
