Pref1x Project[1] is the debut mixtape of Sacramento, Californiarapper, PREF1X. The mixtape consists of 20 tracks, some featuring rapper Kid A.Y and singer Katie Martin, both signed to the record company and publisher of the mixtape, Powell Productions.
Pref1x began writing the mixtape in early 2009 with Kid A.Y, originally in a group together, having recorded the two songs "Long Gone" and "A Sample of Perfection".[2] Pref1x later went on to record his most famous single called "Michael Jackson", which is a tribute to the deceased pop singer. Pref1x began to work on the mixtape solo, and added the work he did with Kid A.Y to the mixtape as a solo work. The mixtape was recorded at 17 Hertz Studios in California.
On July 1, 2011 Pref1x released "I Remember",[3] a remixed version of the original song by deadmau5. Originally, the song was planned to appear on the next album, D.E.M.O. Diary Entries of a Man in Orbit. The song consists of a remixed beat from "I Remember" by deadmau5 as well as recorded verses to the song.
