The Start

edit

In the spring of 1996 something to change Tom's life forever. He was absolutely disgusted by the newly located Michael Power/St. Joseph's students and the way they totally abused their new school's surroundings. Calls to local politicians, the TCDSB and the school itself seemed to be ignored. Finally, Tom agreed to a community meeting that, after he posted literature advertising the event, drew an attendance of approximately 300 local residents. For Tom, this was an inspiration but was short lived when follow up meeting manufactured few results. However, he saw the power of group action and, when organized, how the people responded.
