Early Life

His childhood outside of Boston, MA was filled with challenges. His home life was less than to be desired, and the young singer found himself alone often walking through the nearby trails and woods making up songs and enjoying the solitude. His mother Eleanor passed from breast cancer, and along with his brother Jeff, the 2 Popkin songs created The Ellie Fund (www.elliefund.org) in memory of their wonderful Mother. Eliot's first big break occurred when he tried out for the prestigious Berklee College of Music. He felt like a kid in a musical candy store.

Down Along This Road His first album "Down Along This Road" was released shortly after Popkin completed Berklee. The critically-acclaimed album was a mix of folk and pop, and was released right as music was finding it's place on the internet. The album spawned 6 songs into MP3.com Top 20 charts and three album cuts ("I'm Gonna Leave You", "Yesterday" and "Free") were in the movies "Flushed" and "Accidents Don't Happen".

Endless Ride After the success of "Down Along This Road" Popkin followed an inner hunch and landed in the City of Angels in 1999. He describes his first few years as a "lost young dude learning about a big city." All that learning paid off, as his second album "Endless Ride" was completed in 2006. The album won many awards and the singer found himself with mainstream success. Songs from the album appeared on MTV (www.mtv.com), 3 songs hit the Top 10 on Logo's The Click List (www.logo.mtv.com), he won an award for Outstanding Spiritual Song (www.radioindy.com) and started his first nationwide tour trek. His fan base stretched past the US into Europe, Australia and China.

Today Popkin still lives in Los Angeles, where he can't get enough of the California sun. He is enjoying a new found career as a songwriter for other artists; "It is such a joy to write a song and hear the direction and interpretation an artist will provide." He is the executive producer of an upcoming movie soundtrack. He is also at work on the follow up to "Endless Ride", to be released in the summer of 2012. He explains the sound of his third album: "#3 will be me telling the truth, with a whole lot of memorable choruses." Popkin continues "I'm a modern-day troubadour in a time with alot of bells and whistles. My new album will help fans know a deeper side of me. This album will be sparse and inviting and I really hope people love it."
