August Rosenbaum (born 1987) is an award-winning Danish pianist, composer and arranger, known for his solo work and collaborations with artists such as Quadron, Rhye, Robin Hannibal, Zeena Parkins and Danish video artist Jesper Just. Rosenbaum is an active contributor to the Danish arts scene with commissions for a.o. The Royal Danish Theatre, Palais De Tokyo, Hotel Pro Forma and The Royal Danish Ballet. He received the Danish Music Award in 2010 for "Best New Jazz Artist" and was nominated for the Danish Critics' Award "Steppeulven" in 2014.

Early life
editBorn into a family of artists in Copenhagen, Denmark, August Rosenbaum started playing jazz piano at the age of 6, taught by his grand father, renowned pianist Simon Rosenbaum, who he cites as his biggest musical influence. Rosenbaum played his first concert at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival in 2002. In 2004 he won the Copenhagen Steinway Piano Festival and received the Jakob Gade Prize acknowledging young talent. Rosenbaum studied at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen from 2007-2012, graduating with a Master's degree in music performance and composition. During this time, Rosenbaum studied one year in New York in 2008 with professors Jason Moran, Vijay Iyer and Fred Hersch. In 2013 he was a participant at the New York Red Bull Music Academy.
