This page details Superfund sites specifically in Indiana. For general information on Superfund see Superfund.

What is a Superfund Site?

edit

A superfund site is ln area that has been contaminated with dangerous chemical either through industry or dumping of waste.[1] These sites have been chosen by the Environmental Protection Agency for management and cleanup of the site. Examples of the dangerous chemicals include heavy metals such as lead, or a variety of organic compounds. Note that a Superfund site is different from an RCRA site. Superfund sites do nut have any connection to a current company so they do not have anyone specific to pay for cleaning them up, nor to take legal action against. RCRA sites do have someone to hold liable for cleanup and payment.

For Further and more detailed information about Superfund, please visit the Superfund page on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Site.
