Otjiuaporui is small plot, situated in the East Western corner ofAminuis Constituency , in Omaheke region of Namibia. The plot is between Aminuis and Roman Catholic Mission, whereby Aminuis is inhibited by different type of people but the majority are Otjiherero speaking community. On the Eastern part of Otjiuaporui you will found famous pan,which Aminuis is named after in Otjiherero, “Omongua”.
The pan is tourism attraction, is big and beautiful, surrounded by hills and lakes. God created the beauty of this place and put springbok to live in it. Springbok are beautiful animals and having taste meat. Otjiuaporui was found by late Michael Kandetu in 1975, and inherited by his young brother Simeon Michael Zakaapi in 1982. The main economic activity is subsistence farming with goats, sheep and cattle’s. The place is situated on top of hill and surrounded by sand dunes, it has good vision, when you approached Aminius, you will wonder whether you are getting to cost,seeing the beautiful nature of God, the pan which reflecting blue as an ocean, and the sand dune on top of Otjiuaporui.
Water is known to everyone as vital necessity for any living being. Without water nobody can keep in life. Otjiuaporui has no official water points and has no electricity. People and animals get water from man-made bowl holes, shadoef and lakes, which does not dries even during drought season.
There is no electricity at Otjiuaporui although the plot is 3km from Aminuis, and electricity passes the place to RC which is 6km from Aminuis. The reason of not getting electricity is because is not official place although it existed for more than 30years.People at Otjiuaporui are struggle with electricity and clean drinking water.
It is very nice and attractive place which need to be electrified and given clean drinking water. Otjiuaporui need to be developed, most of the visitors who came to Aminuis are attracted by the beauty and set up of the place.
Otjiuaporui is a small plot which is blessed with all natural beauty: the hills, sand dune, pan and diffrent kind of trees. Let develop it, and it will benefit the inhibited and entire Aminuis Constituency with tourism attraction:
