Hello, welcome and thank you for coming to my page. My name is Stephen Udo, I'm a 5'8 African American male born and raised in Seattle, Washington with three siblings (3rd oldest child). I'm currently in school working to get my masters degree for engineering. My interests and hobbies are boxing and basketball. My favorite boxer is Mike Tyson and my favorite basketball player is LeBron James. Both of these athletes are the best in their fields of athleticism. Meaning that in my opinion, Tyson is the best boxer and Lebron is one of the best basketball players. Additionally, I am a very happy and confident male, with lots of generosity.

My interest relating to Wikipedia is Stress. It's stress because we all experience some sort of stress in ourselves, which makes it out to be that we all need to have coping mechanisms to help control it. If I continue to work on content on Wikipedia, I would like to learn more about how to cope with stress and hope to improve my writing capability. As a volunteer, I hope to educate others while educating myself about any of mine and their interests. I expect to gain a lot of education experience and knowledge. Below, I have provided some articles containing how to cope with stress in our every day lives, enjoy.

Article Evaluation

Basketball is a highly known sport around the globe. It is played by many around the world. Basketball is a universal sport, there is even the NBA where the competition is. I visited the Basketball article, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basketball on Wikipedia, and found these three aspects of it worth commenting on such as age, structure, and the citations.

From what I’ve read from the article I know that it is up to date because this article is explaining how basketball today is being played versus back in the day. For example one of the paragraphs mentioned the rules of basketball and how it is usually played which includes the NBA or street ball and even College basketball. What was mentioned was that there are normally two teams with 5 players on each of the two teams that face each other. The goal is to make shots into the opponent’s hoop and to also defend your own hoop from getting scored on. 1 player of the 5 is a “point guard” which is the smallest, the 2nd smallest player is a “shooting guard”. The 3rd biggest is the “small forward, the 2nd biggest is a “power forward” and the 5th player which is usually the tallest would be called a “center”. Until now everyone who plays basketball still uses the same rules or methods that basketball players have always been using.

Structure

edit

In one of the paragraphs about basketball it talks about how people were playing the game of basketball when it was first invented. It talked about how people would instead of dribbling the basketball they would only bounce and pass to teammates while taking one step with a dribble. I thought this information mentioned was irrelevant because, nobody really would normally play basketball without dribbling because it would just seem odd and it wouldn’t fit with the game of basketball. Also, not dribbling the ball while in an exhibition game would give the person advantage to not lose the ball or being able to run close to the hoop without having sort of little difficulties getting to the rim. It just makes the game more fun, exciting, or interesting.

Citation

edit

According to this article that I’ve read I would say that nothing about this topic is biased. The article about basketball talks about how the game is made and when and how it was invented.

Summary

edit

Overall, I'd rate this page as “good”. The information provided was accurate and had a reasonably complete background with minor issues. In one of the sections titled “Creation”, there was some unnecessary information about basketball when it was first being played. There was plenty of information used in this article, nothing else was needed to be added.
