Marc Fennell (Mixed Martial Arts), (born in December 17, 1971 in Ionia MI) is an professional Mixed martial arts referee and a career origin and cause fire investigator. He is an Association of Boxing Commissions approved MMA Referee Trainer and has been assigned to referee in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, King of the Cage and events in Panama, Costa Rica and throughout the Midwest of the United States. Marc begain his referee career in mixed martial arts in Lafayette Indiana with Dan Severn's The Danger Zone promotions.

Biography

Fennell was born in Ionia, Michigan, the oldest of four kids. While attending college, he wanted to pursue a degree in law enforcement. While training to become a police officer, he became interested in hand to hand combat and the martial arts. He began training at Michigan Spots Camp, under the guidance of Dan Severn. It was during this time frame, that Dan Severn began training Marc as a Referee for his Amateur Mixed Martial Arts promotion company called The Danger Zone.

Marc was able to obtain the much needed experience through Michigan Sports Camp and began to work for other promotions and state athletic commissions. The desire and hard work paid off when he was assigned by the Illinois Athletic Commission to Referee at UFC 90. Junior Dos Santos vs Fabricio Verdum was his first event during the pay per view telecast.[1]

His next Ultimate Fighting Championship event he was assigned to referee was at UFC 123 in Detroit MI.[2]

Personal

Marc lives in Michigan with his wife and three kids. Marc continues to teach and mentor the next generation of MMA Referees through various seminars.
