Heltzer Honors Program is the Honors Program at Appalachian State University. Created in 1970[1] as the Honors Program. Thanks to a generous bequest from Harry[2] and Jerri Heltzer of Lenoir, North Carolina in 2004, the Honors Program was renamed The Heltzer Honors Program. The current director of the program is Dr. Leslie Sargent Jones. The Heltzer Honors Program provides students with a shared academic experience that stresses global understanding, undergraduate research, service, and independent thinking[3] The administration offices for the Heltzer Honors Program are located in East Hall on Appalachian State University's main campus.
