I have a PhD. in Inorganic Chemistry with an emphasis in spectroscopy. I was trained in analytical and organic chemistry research before going into my PhD. I currently serve as a consultant for people interested in doing Fluorescence, UV-VIS-NIR, and Raman Spectroscopy. My focus in my research involves ground state association and how it effects the optical properties of the species whether it be dimers, trimers, etc... to N-mers. These association modes dramatically effect the colors we see, as well as the emission spectra of the compounds. These studies are tied into OLED displays where the amount of the dopant is critical to the devices performance. Association typically quenches the emission of molecules, however in the case of these compounds we study the emission is enhanced not quenched. This means one can increase the concentration of the dopant (to a point) and actually enhance the device beyond materials that suffer from quenching at high concentration.
My interest include chemical history, microwave synthesis, NMR, fluorescence, UV-VIS-NIR, Raman, imaging, photography, oil and gas exploration, geology, and travel.
