Fact: at this very moment, on the English Wikipedia, there are a total of 6,912,023 articles.

I am familiar with Wikipedia for a while now, but I have not been contributing to it for a long time yet. I am learning new things every time I am working here. My contributions are growing slowly, but are not numerous, especially not compared to some other Wikipedians! But hey, every little bit helps, doesn´t it?

I will make a logical list of my contributions here. I count in the contributions I might when I still didn´t have a user name, but worked 'anonymously' under the IP address 82.92.14.180.

I am also active on the Dutch Wikipedia. There I am using the same name Mario Roering and I also sign with MarioR.

My contributions

edit

I am familiar with Wikipedia for quite a while now (I think since October 2004, give or take a month), but my very first contribution on the English Wikipedia was a minor edit to Hentai on 22 December 2004 (01:39). Then I didn´t do anything for a while (except reading articles) and on 31 March 2005 (16:50) I created my first new article Genseiryu. In both cases I didn´t have a user name, but used my IP address 82.92.14.180). Genseiryu is the karate style that I train at the KLM Karate Club. (I started with Shotokan and Wadoryu in 1987). Unfortunately this article became a few months later suddenly the victom of an edit war, because there is another organization that also claims to be doing Genseiryu (but are in FACT doing Genseiryu-Butokukai, which is not only historically a fact, but is also decided by a court of law!!). They still see a lot of facts differently. Although I tried my utmost to come to an understanding and to create an neutral (NPOV) article, this annoying edit war keeps coming back, simply because of one man who does not want anybody else to talk about the subject of Genseiryu besides himself. This whole situation has gone too far already and it bothers not only some administrators, but also myself...
O, by the way: my current user name, Mario Roering, I used for the first time on the 1st of April 2005 (02:02).

Apart from my knowledge about Genseiryu Karate, aviation (as a being an airline pilot myself) and physics (graduated in Industrial Engineering, main subject photonics), I have a lot of general knowledge. I am of the kind that likes to talk about almost anything. I also like to listen (and read) and I am always open for discussion. That way I always learn new things and contributing to Wikipedia is not only very useful, but also an educative activity. And in case I don´t know anything about a subject, I can still try to contribute by correcting writing errors in the text. I have worked as an editor for a periodical during my student time... Okay, it was in Dutch, but my English is not so bad, is it? Anyway, when in doubt, I always try to find out what´s right, so I can also improve my English by doing so!

For a good logical overview I will put My Contributions in different categories. Underneath the header I will put the title of the articles to which I contributed, chronologically, last one at the end of the list.
